Tool Shed Tutorial

Tool Shed

This is a Stampin' Up! Background Stamp used on the dotted paper from Mocha Morning Specialty Designer Paper.  Doesn't it make a great background for this masculine card?

The card is quick and easy...just what you need at times!  Just follow along with the tutorial.  All the supplies are from Stampin' Up! and if you need any of these to complete you card, you can purchase them at my Stampin' Up! Online Store.  When you click on that link, go to the bottom of the page and  SHOP NOW.

The card body is Soft Suede cardstock 8-1/2"x 5-1/2", scored and folded in half.  The mat is Early Espresso 5-1/4"x 4".  The Designer Paper is 5"x 3-3/4".  The Early Espresso tool handle is a strip 1/2"x 3" and the other handle in Soft Suede is 1/2"x 3-3/4".

To make the 'gear' and 'washer' (not pictured here):
1. On a scrap of Soft Suede, punch a circle using the 1/2" Circle Punch.
2. Then position that cardstock with the hole in it into the Boho Punch and punch out the large flower.
3. The flower will have a hole in the center.
4. Use scissors to trim each flower tip into a 'gear'.
5. For the 'washer', punch a 1/4" Circle first and position the 3/4" Circle Punch over that and punch again.

For the tool, punch a circle with the 1/2" Circle Punch into an Early Espresso scrap.  Then position that scrap in the 1" Circle Punch (off center) and punch.  With scissors, clip straight into the circles to make it resemble a 'wrench head'.

Do the same in Soft Suede cardstock using first the 3/4" Circle Punch and then the larger 1-1/4" Circle Punch.

The handles of both tools are strips of cardstock 1/2" x 3" in Early Espresso for the small tool and 3-3/4" long in Soft Suede for the larger tool.  Use the Corner Rounder Punch for the bottom edges of the tools and the 1/4" Circle Punch for ends of the tools.

Tape the tool heads to the handles.

Sponge the edges of the tools with Early Espresso ink to add depth.  Place several dimensional foam pop-up dots on the back of the smaller tool to add dimension when you assemble it later on the card front.

To stamp the background 'tools' onto the designer paper, start by inking the Tool Shed Background Stamp with Early Espresso ink.  Lay the paper, dotted side down, on the ink.  Hold the paper still and steady while you rub your hand (or brayer) over the back of the paper to make sure the entire surface gets inked.  Then carefully lift off the paper.

Stamp a greeting onto the designer paper.  I used Real Red Craft Ink so the color would show up well on the printed background.  Let the ink dry.

Mount the designer paper onto the Early Espresso mat and then onto the Soft Suede card body using Snail Adhesive tape.  Finish the card by taping on the larger tool and then the smaller tool.  Tape on the 'washer' and use some tiny pieces of dimensional foam to pop-up the 'gear'.
